Small changes to your lifestyle can make a big difference to your health. Below are some suggestions.
Talk to your doctor about these and other changes you could make to help manage your high blood pressure.

  • Exercise – regular physical activity may help you strengthen your heart, reduce stress, lose weight, and lower your blood pressure*
  • Diet – eating a low-fat, balanced diet including fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains can help you lose weight and may lower your blood pressure*
  • Limit salt – too much salt can cause the body to retain fluid, which can increase your blood pressure
  • Limit alcohol – drinking too much can raise blood pressure

*Always talk to your doctor before starting any diet, weight loss, or exercise program.
